ARTHUR

Arthur is a 23-window Split Screen Kombi that was discovered full of coconuts on a trip to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. A man by the name of Arthur owned the bus for over 30 years and used it to sell coconuts on Copacabana Beach and in Ipanema. The initial restoration took 5 months in Brazil, and after Arthur was shipped from Santos to Melbourne, further restoration work was carried out including a brand new platinum vintage interior and detailed finishing touches. Arthur’s best feature is his rag-top roof – it folds back to open up the roof, which is a great feature for photos.

ELEANOR

Eleanor was found in a car yard in a city called Sorocaba in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The salesperson informed us that in the ’70s and ’80s Eleanor was used as a school bus, then as a family car. When this family bought a new car, the Kombi sat around for years collecting dust until they decided to sell it to the car yard we bought it from. Eleanor was towed to Sao Paulo for the initial restoration, which took 5 months. She was then shipped from Santos to Melbourne where further restoration work was carried out including a brand new basalt grey and mesh grey interior. Eleanor’s best feature is her rag-top roof – it folds back to open up the roof, which is a great feature for photos.

STELLA

Stella was discovered in a garage in a place called Barretos, north west of Sao Paulo, Brazil. This Kombi was used to deliver mail across Barretos for many years for a company called Correios – the national postal service of Brazil. As Barretos is a very dry part of Brazil, Stella was in excellent condition with barely any rust. We drove this Kombi from Barretos to Sao Paulo for the first stage of the restoration, which took 3 months. Stella was then shipped from Santos to Melbourne where further restoration work was carried out including a brand new platinum vintage interior and the finishing touches. Stella’s best feature is her rag-top roof – it folds back to open up the roof, which is a great feature for photos.

HENRY

Henry was found on a farm in Rio Claro, north east of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Kombi had been in the same family for 35 years – it housed a machine that was used to crush sugar cane to make juice, which was then sold at the markets. Restoration of Henry took 7 months, as the bus had extensive rust which meant certain parts had to be removed and replaced. After being shipped from Santos to Melbourne, Henry underwent further restoration work including a brand new basalt grey and mesh grey interior, and some finishing touches. He now looks absolutely amazing! Henry’s best feature is his rag-top roof – it folds back to open up the roof, which is a great feature for photos.

our rock star

AXL

Axl was discovered by a family friend in Buzios, three hours from Rio de Janeiro, and had been sitting abandoned for years in a tiny shed. The family we bought this Kombi from loved rock ’n’ roll, with their favourite band being Guns N’ Roses. In 1991, Guns N’ Roses played for the first time in Brazil at the Rock in Rio festival, and Axl was the car they drove to Rio for the festival in 1991, 2001 and 2011. By 2013, Axl had some problems with the gear box so the family parked him away, but they still loved Guns N’ Roses so much they named their first boy after the lead singer, Axl Rose – hence the name for this Kombi. Axl first went to Sao Paulo for restoration before being shipped to Australia. His best feature is his rag-top roof – it folds back to open up the roof, which is a great feature for photos.
